Milton Keynes Dons have today completed the loan signing of highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur youngster Andros Townsend.
The 18-year-old winger joins the Dons on loan until the end of the 2009/10 season.
An England Under-19 international blessed with incredible pace and skill, Andros heads to stadiummk following a successful five-month spell with fellow League 1 side Leyton Orient.
Dons assistant manager Karl Robinson said: “Andros is probably the best player we’ve played against this season, he was outstanding when we played Orient last month and he was exceptional the previous time we saw him as well.
“We had a good following the day we went to Orient so our supporters will have seen the kind of talent he has and I’m sure they’ll be excited about it.
“He’s only young, so we can’t expect too much of him every week, but we’ll do our best to aid his footballing education and development.”
Leytonstone-born Andros graduated from the Spurs Academy when he was awarded his first professional contract in January 2009 and was named in the travelling party for a UEFA Cup tie in Donetsk a week later.
He spent the end of the 2008/09 season on loan with Yeovil Town, where he made 10 appearances as the Glovers preserved their League 1 status, including one against the Dons in a 0-0 draw at Huish Park.
His reputation strongly enhanced, Townsend joined the O’s on a month’s loan at the start of the current campaign – a period that was quickly increased following some impressive performances and an incredible goal on his return to Yeovil.
He is expected to be part of the Dons squad that travels to Hartlepool United in League 1 on Saturday.
